Rebels Defeat Prowl on the Road 107-93

After playing the past two games at home, the Tampa Bay Rebels traveled to Lake Wales in Central Florida to face the Heartland Prowl in a game that featured the top two teams in the Florida Basketball Association (FBA).

The first half saw several lead changes between the teams, but neither was able to pull away by more than six points before the break. Throughout the game, both teams utilized man and zone defenses.  The Rebels started the game in 3-2 zone, while the Prowl relied on a 2-3 zone during the second half.

Rebels center Matt Kendrick had a spectacular dunk that made the fans jump out of their seats as he grabbed an offensive rebound off the glass and threw it down with authority. For yet another game, the Rebels got a boost off their bench when Alonso Davis was tapped to guard the Prowl’s talented big man, Mirnes Islamovic. In addition to Davis, An'juan Wilderness and Will McIntyre turned in stellar defensive performances that propelled the Rebels defense to 39 rebounds, 18 steals, and 4 blocks. Leading scorer Tim Ware caught fire early and stayed hot all night turning in 37 points. Guard Jerel Young chipped in 15 points as the Rebels second-leading scorer for the game.

With the victory, the Tampa Bay improved to 4-1 and increased their hold on the top spot in the FBA. The Rebels return to action June 16th as they face the Florida Flight at Freedom High School in Tampa. The game will begin at 8pm, and kids under 13 receive free admission.
