The Tampa Bay Rebels have announced the hiring of Calvin Morris as the Director of International Scouting. Morris, who attended Tennessee State, played professionally in Europe, Paraguay, and Mexico. “In 2008, he played for the team I was coaching at the time, and since then, we have been in touch,” said GM Fernando Rojas.

Calvin retired from playing and is now managing U.S. born players from his location in Mexico. He successfully promotes players with experience in the ABA, PBL and IBL that want to travel to South America looking for opportunities. “Coach Rojas and I share the same knowledge of international basketball. He is always searching for talent and has given opportunities to play and travel abroad to many minor leaguers. I am pleased to be part of his staff,” Calvin commented.

Fernando attended a showcase organized by Morris in Irapuato, Mexico and saw potential talent to join the Rebels for the 2012 Florida Basketball Association season. Rojas said, “We saw talented guards and play-makers, and we decided to invite some of them to attend training camp in Tampa. These guys have enough game and experience to succeed in the FBA."
