The Tampa Bay Rebels traveled to Lake Wales in Central Florida to face the Heartland Prowl in their final meeting of the Florida Basketball Association regular season schedule. “The final score, 108 – 92, does not reflect how the game was played. The Prowl was close throughout the whole game, making 3-point shots in transition and grabbing a number of offensive rebounds. We pulled away in the last four minutes,” Rebels Coach Fernando Rojas said.
The Rebels bench made a significant contribution on both ends of the floor, with veteran point guard Jonathan Brown contributing 17 points and 5 rebounds. The starting five set the tone of the game right from tip-off with point guard Cory Lemons delivering another solid performance and ending the contest with 26 points, including 9 of 10 from the free throw line, 15 rebounds and 13 assists for his first triple-double in a Rebels uniform. “Forward Stan Bufford had an impressive game on defense and offense,” Rojas said of Stan’s job. “That type of performance is what international teams are looking for - he had a great game against a great team.” Bufford finished with 16 points, 14 rebounds, 2 blocks and two spectacular dunks in the second half.
