Rebels Announce Date for 2014 Tryout

The Tampa Bay Rebels will be hosting tryouts for their upcoming 2014 Florida Basketball Association season on Saturday, February 15th at the Police Athletic League located at 1924 West Diana Street in Tampa. There is a $100 fee for the tryout, which will run from 2pm until 4pm. Selected players will be invited to the Rebel’s training camp in April.

“Over the past several years, we have consistently brought players from NBA’s D-League, major NCAA programs, local college programs, and international clubs to Tampa to play for the Rebels. The Rebels continue to be a great springboard for players who are looking to further their professional careers as well as rookie-level players looking to pursue a career at the professional level,” stated Rebels Director of Scouting, Andrew Phillips. “Players that have succeeded with our organization have shown that they understand what it means to be a professional - showing respect to teammates and coaches, fulfilling duties as part of the team with regards to community events, and being dedicated to the team by working hard in practice and being prepared on game day. Whether playing basketball is your full-time job or not, if you can do these things, you can be a part of something special with the Tampa Bay Rebels.”

Rebels Prepare New Roster for 2014 FBA Season

The Tampa Bay Rebels will look to make some additions to their roster heading into the 2014 Florida Basketball Association season.  Since joining the FBA, the Rebels have compiled a record of 22-4, and captured the 2012 FBA championship.  In 2013, members of the Rebels won 5 out of 11 FBA Player of the Week awards, while other members of the team continued their careers in other countries.  “Last season we had very talented players on the roster, but we didn’t have the championship chemistry.  We reached the championship game for the second consecutive time, and we came within a basket of back-to-back titles,” coach Fernando Rojas commented.  “We are a team based on performance, and this year, we are revamping the roster and also adding a new assistant coach that knows the organization quite well.  The task of choosing the right players will start with tryouts in March, and, by early April, the roster should be finalized.”
