The Tampa Bay Rebels fell to the Miami Midnites this past Saturday by a score of 137-123. Tampa Bay fell behind early and trailed 20-35 at the end of the first quarter. Although they would outscore Miami over the next 3 quarters, the Rebels were never able to gain control of the momentum. A half court shot by Bryce Kachinski just before the halftime buzzer closed the gap to 57-70 heading into the break. The Rebels outscored Miami in the 3rd, cutting the lead to single digits along the way, but the deep bench of Miami was able to hold off a rally from the home team.
Kachinski led Tampa Bay with 34 points on the night, hitting 5 of 9 shots from behind the arc. Rob Fuchs added 21 points and 5 3-pointers of his own. James Devlin added 20 points, while Jamison Clark chipped in 16 points, and Jonathan Brown added 13 on the night. As a team, the Rebels shot 86% (36 of 42) from the free-throw line.
With the loss, the Rebels drop to 1-1 on the season. The team will travel to the Palm Beach Knights this Saturday, and then make the short drive to Miami to face the Midnites on Sunday. To get the latest news on the Tampa bay Rebels, please visit us at www.tampabayrebels.com.
