Successful Weekend for Rebels

The Tampa Bay Rebels capped off an eventful Saturday with a hard-fought 98-92 victory over the Florida Flight in Orlando. With the win, the Rebels improve to 7-2 on the season.

Prior to the game, the team gathered at Little Greek Restaurant located in New Tampa. The restaurant, which also recently sponsored a halftime contest at a Rebels’ game, provided the team with quality food and service prior to a very crucial road game. “We are very appreciative of what Little Greek Restaurant and their manager, Percy Rosemurgy, have done for us this season,” stated Andrew Phillips, the Rebels’ Director of Scouting. “From the halftime contest to the pre-game meal, we have had nothing but great experiences with the restaurant and their staff, and we are looking forward to developing our relationship with them as we move forward.”

Once the game started, the Rebels built an early lead and held a 25-16 lead after the first quarter. The Flight fought their way back into the game during the second period, but the Rebels managed to hang on to a 46-42 advantage at halftime. Tampa Bay took a 72-62 lead into the fourth quarter, but the Flight would rally again, tying the Rebels at 92 with 39.5 seconds left. Jerome Clyburn then found Jermaine Bell for a dunk on the next possession to give the Rebels the lead for good at 94-92 with 30 seconds left in the game.

Bryce Kachinski led the Rebels with 21 points, while Brandon Davis scored 20 points, including 10 for 13 from the free-throw line. Cory Lemons scored 19, and Jerome Clyburn added 14 points for Tampa Bay.

The Rebels will return to action on July 12th when they face the Heartland Prowl in Lake Wales.
