Rebels Advance to Championship Game

The Tampa Bay Rebels advanced to the 2014 FBA championship game by defeating the Heartland Prowl 126-118 at the Police Athletic League in Tampa on Saturday, August 2nd. This marks the third straight year that the Rebels have reached the FBA championship game.

Tampa Bay jumped out to a lead early in the game, and remained in control throughout the remainder of the first quarter. Heartland used an early second quarter run to briefly take the lead, before the Rebels made a rally of their own to take a 59-51 advantage into halftime. After the game, Coach Rojas commented, “Today, we had the best defensive game of the season. The Prowl was always within striking distance, but he first unit did an excellent job matching their intensity and rebounding in key moments of the game. The second unit had a great game on the defensive end as well. The team showed resilience and unselfish basketball.”

Tampa Bay will now travel to Davie, Florida to face the Miami Midnites on Sunday, August 10th at 12:30pm in the FBA championship game.
