The Blue Sharks finished their inaugural season with a 7 – 2 record in the Tampa City League. Along the way, the team won six consecutive games, including one overtime win, and reached the Championship Game in its first season.
The team was formed by Unzo Givens Jr., Isaiah Mason, Demetrious Edwards, Dontarrious Thomas, Milton Jones, Jerome Harrison, Cody Hall and Jeptha Lewis. “Despite falling short in the Championship Game, it’s encouraging to have the success that we did in our first season together. With hard work and dedication, the Blue Sharks will become a strong feeder system for the Tampa Bay Rebels,” Head Coach Jonathan Brown said following the championship game.
The Blue Sharks will keep participating in Tampa’s basketball circuit during the summer while preparing for the international tour in the fall. Tampa Bay Rebels GM Fernando Rojas commented on the Blue Sharks debut, “The guys did a great job, and naming Jonathan Brown as the Head Coach of the Blue Sharks was the right decision. This is a talented group of players with a learning attitude that was assembled through tryouts, scouting of local leagues, and word of mouth.”
